
Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez has made history as the first Philippine-born contestant to reach the Top 5 on the 26th season of The Voice. Now based in Utica, New York, the Misamis Occidental native’s journey is a moment of pride for Filipinos both in the United States and back home.

Before his rise on The Voice, Vasquez was already a familiar name in the Philippines, having been a finalist on Tawag ng Tanghalan, the country’s premier daily singing competition.
